GoodReads Roundup – June 2015

4 books this month.

Starting with…

THE DUFF – Kody Keplinger – 3.5 stars

It was a quick read and quite fun. I liked B but thought the rest of the girls sort of merged into one in the background, without much development. The character development was great with the two leads, and though I hated the guy at the beginning I was really rooting for them by the end. 3.5 stars.

HELTER SKELTER – non-fiction – Vincent Bugliosoi – 4 stars

Research and morbid curiosity. I was not disappointed. Sometimes, life is stranger than fiction.

THRONE OF GLASS – Sarah J. Maas – 3.5 stars

I get the feeling that this series is going to get better as it goes on. This was the necessary opening chapter, and I enjoyed it a lot. I think the stage is now set and I’m looking forward to continuing the series.

THE RAW SHARK TESTS – Stephen Hall – 4 stars

What the hell did I just read? I’m not sure I’m intelligent enough for this book! I sort of sat down afterwards and went… “So, that happened? Or – no, maybe not” for like ten minutes after finishing it. It was beautifully written. And bonkers. Did I mention bonkers? Very original I’ve never read anything quite like it.

Book of the month? Possibly Helter Skelter, but that makes me feel a bit weird. RAW SHARK TESTS for complete and utter originality.

Reading challenge: 30/50

I’m on track!
